In 2019, small populations of the invasive forest pest Hemlock Woolly Adelgid were confirmed in the Niagara Region, including a detection near Wainfleet, ON. The Invasive Species Centre, Silv-Econ Ltd. and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are hosting a tour of this site on November 7th 2019. This tour will include training on identification, early detection and sampling methods, as well as the opportunity to connect with HWA experts.
This event will also feature a pre-tour webinar hosted on November 5th from 1:00-2:30 PM, that all registrants are encouraged to attend.
The tour on November 7 will feature 2 separate tour timeslots:
10:00 – 11:30 AM: This field tour is targeted at land managers and industry professionals.
12:30 – 2:00 PM: This field tour is targeted at a more general audience; members of the public and local landowners are encouraged to attend this tour.
Participants may attend either time slot.
All registrants are encouraged to participate in a pre-tour webinar on November 5th, from 1:00-2:30 PM.
