Asian Long-Horned Beetle

Anoplophora glabripennis

Asian Long-horned Beetle (ALB) was detected in Toronto, ON in 2003. Following an extensive eradication program, the insect was discovered a second time in Mississauga, ON in 2013. Eradication and quarantine efforts continue today to stop the spread of the beetle to other parts of Ontario. ALB attacks a wide range of tree host species, but prefers the culturally significant and economically important maple tree.
